Custer State Park Hunting

Hunting

Big game hunting for Custer State Park begins in September running through January.  Turkey season runs April through May. The park is widely known for its trophy and non-trophy buffalo hunting, as well as its deer, elk, mountain lion and antelope seasons.

Hunting helps manage animal population and prevents overcrowding. Control of numbers ensures an adequate supply of food for all species and prevents habitat loss.
