Number one select porcupine hides for use in quillwork. We go through hundreds of skins and pick out the best for use in quillwork applications. We have a few hides with extra thin quills for fine platting work as well. Please inquire if this is what you need. Skins are dried and preserved with borax. Ready to be re-soaked and plucked for the project you are working on.
American porcupine hair is sold by the ounce. Each bundle is from one porcupine so weights vary per bundle. Hair length is from 5’’ to 8 ‘‘ long. Used to make head roaches and fly tying.
These selected porcupine quills are hand pick from the back of the hides so there is very few short or thin quills to deal with. Ready to be washed and dyed. They average 2’’ to 3’’ in length. About the size of round wood tooth picks. Used for jewelry such as chokers, earrings and also tapestry on birch bark. Sold by the ounce

Erethizon dorsatum Linnaeus or porcupine skull. All of our skulls are boiled clean and whiten to cut the grease and disinfected. After cleaning we use a small bead of hot glue to keep all thejaws in place. You can heat the glue with a hair dryer to remove it if you choose to.
