In the park, 1,350 buffalo freely roam the park’s 71,000 acres. In addition to buffalo, you can encounter antelope, prairie dogs, bighorn sheep, elk, whitetail and mule deer, burros, and smaller wildlife.  It is also exceptional for bird watching. The park’s 450 mile trail system provides hiking, biking, and horse riding. Visitors also can view wildlife by taking the Wildlife Loop Road scenic drive in the early morning or evening, when wildlife are more active.  You may even see bighorn sheep, burrowing owls, coyotes, or mountain lions.

After your adventure in Custer State Park, we invite you to stop by the Claw Antler & Hide store and see more animals. However, we want to be clear. Our animals are stuffed taxidermy mounts, available for purchase.
